Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Here are answers to the frequently asked questions about therapy and about my practice. Feel free to inquire with other questions and to schedule a call to chat.
1
How do I know if I need therapy?
Most people can benefit from therapy when working with the right therapist. You don't need to have experienced a significant event or feel completely different to start therapy. Benefits include, but are not limited to, learning new skills to handle stress, improving communication skills, increasing self-awareness, and improving relationships. Therapy takes time and is a type of commitment to personal growth. If you want to better yourself and improve different aspects of your life, therapy could be a good fit for you.
2
How often do I see my therapist and for how long?
I typically meet with my clients weekly for the first three weeks, and then weekly or biweekly depending on client needs. Each session is 50-53 minutes long. How long we meet is entirely dependent on your specific goals and needs. If we reach a point where it feels like all of your therapeutic goals have been met, we will discuss and potentially begin the termination process. Because I primarily treat trauma, the duration of counseling can be longer because it is more process-based rather than solution-focused.
3
What is your session fee and do you take insurance?
My out-of-network session fee for an individual session is $160. I offer a sliding scale option of $40-$100 for clients with financial barriers. Priority sliding scale spots for college students, LGBTQ+ individuals, BIPOC, and former clients. Mention sliding scale in your contact email if this is an option you want to explore.
As of November 1st, 2026, I accept Premera and some Blue Cross/ Blue Shield insurance plans. This means your insurance will cover the cost of each appointment. I am also working to be able to accept Medicaid and Medicare.

What happens after the 15 minute phone consultation?
You do not have to schedule an intake appointment after a phone consultation. When looking for a therapist, I encourage everyone to meet with three professionals and determine who feels like the best fit. If, after the 15-minute phone call, you determine that I would be a good fit, I will securely send you documents to complete, including a confidentiality agreement, cancellation policy, etc. We will schedule your first appointment, and during this intake, we will discuss these documents and go over your goals for therapy in more depth.
